Pennsylvania readers have likely followed the media reports about the separation of Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. Though the A-List couple has apparently not actually filed for divorce, the two have been separated since 2011. Indeed, Ashton is said to be in the midst of a new romance with Mila Kunis and was rumored to have had extramarital affairs with at least two other women.
Reports indicate the power couple has been addressing financial issues through their respective attorneys. It seems, however, that they are not close to an agreement and may actually be further apart in negotiations. There have been rumors that Demi and Ashton may need a judge to decide the disputed issues for them, though the details of any supposed acrimony between them have not been disclosed.
Some say that Ashton is not in a hurry to get divorced. If so, it may seem a bit surprising in view of his current relationship status. Nevertheless, Demi is reported to be more interested in getting things over with, particularly in view of the fact that Ashton appears to have moved on emotionally. It is not clear what the property and asset division issues may be, though Ashton reportedly made $24 million last year alone.
Whether in Pennsylvania or another state, sometimes couples are simply not able to come to an agreement. While some couples try alternative dispute resolution options like mediation or a collaborative divorce, they do not work in every instance. In the case of Ashton and Demi, there is clearly a high level of assets involved, and it remains to be seen how they will ultimately resolve the financial issues which are apparently dividing them. In our state, those considering a divorce will likely benefit from investigating all of the different approaches available to fairly and completely obtain a divorce in a supportive and understanding environment.
